The marae committee are coming around the motu during April to share some ideas around the marae development plans and seek feedback from whanau.

Kaupapa/ Purpose: To consult and seek support from the wider Rongohaere whanau regarding the Rongohaere Marae Development Plan to secure funding from the Oranga Marae Funding Grant (TPK & Lotteries) to re-build our marae.

Thank you for including us via livestream to the hui. I am very impressed with the plans for the rebuild and want to thank you all for the hard work,effort and time you put into this kaupapa. I live away from my pa and I rarely get home to visit. So having these links and fb pages is a great way to keep in contact. Nga mihi.
With regards to the rebuild I think everything has been covered impressively. Just a couple of whakaaro or patai. I think of our kaumatua who stay at the marae and having to sleep on the floor. Would there be an opportunity to have a kamatua room with beds etc and maybe a kitchenette? Including their own showers etc? Just to make their stay a bit more comfortable?
Has the komiti thought of carvings for the wharenui? Or are there carvings? And if there isnt kei te pai. Or f the komiti decide not to kei te pai hoki.
What can we as whanau living away do to help? We have a taurahere in Hamilton but not very active. We have done small fundraisers in the past. But other than that what else can we do?
